SCSC Championship - Dorset v Wiltshire - Dean Park 27th May 2010
Dorset batted first and opened with the evergreen pair of Barry Lewis and Tom White. They set about the Wilts attack in a most belligerent manner, posting 60 runs for the first wicket. White was first to return to the pavilion with 26 to his name.
Jenkin entered the fray and was soon into his stride, stroking a rapid 30. Meanwhile, Lewis was still going about his business, but finally succomed to the bowling of Williams for 44.
Porter & Wilkinson soon followed, the latter getting one that 'that spat off a length' and was caught in the gulley.
Stacey chipped in with a more than useful 20, but Geller,Allen and Paul all fell to spin of Cowley, who ended up with 4 - 0 - 4 for 6.
The Dorset innings closed at 183 all out.
Wiltshire could only reply with 115 all out against a Dorset bowling attack in which all 5 bowlers used the "interesting" (yet again!) Dean Park wicket to maximum effect .
Dorset v I.O.W, at Ryde CC 20th May.
The first E.C.B. encounter for 2010.
Dorset won the toss and inserted the Islanders .Couch opened for Dorset and bowled his usual tight line and length supported by the studious Mark Allen. After 15 overs they made way for Ballam and Fisher and the first wicket fell with only 48 on the board.
With Skipper Watson removed, Caught by Keeper Bradley off the seamer Fisher. This was quickly followed by two more wickets, captured by the wiley Ballam.
The Dorset catching left something to be desired . but the fielders managed to hold on to three on the bounce ! However, the tireing bowlers lost a little of their control and the last 15 overs went for a 150 runs !!. The I O W innings closed on 230 for 6.
Tea was taken very quietly the Sec/Man looking ashend faced and Island boys very perky !
Skipper Webb opened with Lowton and after 10 overs Dorset had registered 48 for 1, having lost the wicket of Webb for a finely crafted 23, including an enormous 6 that went out of the ground.
Lowton was joined by Clarke and they set about the bowling, and steadily made inroads into the Islanders total. With Clarke batting freely, Lowton pushed the singles and gave the majority of the strike to the rampant Clark with the last 10 overs going for 100 runs!
The innings closed in the 40th over with Clarke 114 n/o and Lowton with 58 n/o.
With due respect to the Islanders, Dorset's bowling and catching must radically improve if we are to repeat last season's success !
